As a consensus-based organization, CGA’s working committees are the foundation of all of CGA’s work. CGA has a vision of shared responsibility in damage prevention, and input and participation from all 13 stakeholder groups on our eight working committees is a great way to unite all stakeholders. CGA committees meet in-person and virtually approximately 3-4 times a year.

Here are a couple highlights of recent CGA committee work:

  • The DPI Metrics Committee approved metrics for facility owner operators and locators. The committee is also brainstorming future metrics for all DPI participants.
  • The Best Practices Committee recently achieved consensus approval for 10 practice modifications, one new practice and one new definition.
  • The Technology Committee is preparing to publish a case study on 3D visualization software for mapping underground facilities.
  • The Data Reporting & Evaluation Committee has developed a detailed flow chart of damage root causes, and launched several new user interface upgrades to DIRT.
  • The OCSI Committee recently updated the 811 Center Dashboard with 2023 data and information from all U.S. and Canadian centers.
  • The Education Committee released new PSAs and the 8/11 Day Toolkit, and will be publishing the first modules in CGA’s Online Excavator Education Curriculum this fall.

While these are just a couple of the recent outputs – there are always many efforts underway across each of CGA’s working committees!

To join any of our committees:

  1. Login to your CGA profile and navigate to your personal snapshot.
  2. On the left hand menu, select “Committees.”
  3. You will then see your current committee membership, and can join other committees you are interested in.
